BBI: Wealth of Russian billionaires rises by $36.4 bln in Jan–Jun

MOSCOW, Jul 1 (PRIME) -- The combined wealth of Russia’s billionaires increased by U.S. $36.354 billion in January–June, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI) seen by PRIME on Thursday.

The index is calculated using capitalization and financial reports of companies owned by the businessmen, or a capitalization to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) ratio and or a share price to earnings per share ratio. The rating comprises 500 wealthiest people of the world, including 24 Russians.

The wealth of Leonid Mikhelson, co-owner of independent gas producer Novatek, ranked second among Russian billionaires, rose by $5.78 billion to $30.5 billion. The wealth of oil major Lukoil’s co-owner Vagit Alekperov, who is on the fifth position, increased by $5.03 billion to $22.3 billion.

Vladimir Potanin, one of the core owners of metals giant Norilsk Nickel, remained number one among the richest Russians with his fortune rising by $2.8 billion to $32.8 billion.

The wealth of key owner of Severstal Alexei Mordashov, ranked third, grew by $4.49 billion to $27.6 billion.

The wealth of Vladimir Lisin, the key beneficiary of steel producer Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK), who is on the fourth place, rose by $3.47 billion to $27.3 billion.
